Scioli Named Defensive MVP of Hula Bowl

State College, Pa., Jan. 25, 1999 -- Penn State senior defensive end Brad Scioli (Bridgeport, Pa.) was named the Defensive Player of the Game at the Hula Bowl, which took place yesterday in Hawaii. A member of the North squad that fell 34-14 to the South, Scioli made the biggest defensive play of the game when he sacked Kansas State quarterback Michael Bishop for a 17-yard loss on a first-and-goal play at the end of the first half. A first-team All-Big Ten selection in 1998, Scioli recorded 42 tackles (31 solo) including 18 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. In addition he also forced two fumbles, recovered one and broke up three passes.
